...and why I built this site
Hi, my name is Kathy, creator of OrlandoVacationResourceGuide.com. While I’ve always had an interest in building my own website, this wasn’t my original idea of what it would be. Surprised? I was too! Life is like that. So, how did I get here? I’ve always had an interest in real estate and wanted to eventually be able to purchase an investment property. I’ve worked as a real estate agent, an accounting manager for a homebuilder, and most recently implementing software for homebuilders. As most of you know, until the last few years, residential real estate has been a good business to be in. And, lucky for me, it allowed me to finally realize my dream of owning a rental property! Having been to Orlando several times my search started there. I found a brand new condo near all the well known attractions and the convention center. I happily signed away a large portion of my monthly disposable income in exchange for my dream. With a property management company secured and a listing on VRBO I was ready to rent. The inquires started coming in… ...and most every one of them had the same question… ...one I wasn’t really expecting… ’what else is there to do in Orlando?’ Silly me, I thought people came to Orlando to go to Disney, or Sea World, or Universal…or maybe a convention. It didn’t occur to me that they wanted guidance on what Orlando had to offer. As I started looking for ways to help my potential guests plan their trips, it became clear to me that there were a lot of sites out there about specific attractions but none that really covered everything. I was spending a lot of time writing out emails to potential guests directing them all over the internet to learn about Orlando. Then I had an idea…what if I created what I was looking for? When guests ask the inevitable question, I’d have somewhere to direct them. And, what if I could actually help defray some of the costs associated with the condo at the same time? I loved the idea... ...and had absolutely no idea where to start. I didn’t know the first thing about building a website, much less building one that people found and generated income. So, I did what a lot of people do. I started searching. What I found are there are several ‘get rich quick’ and ‘fast, easy website building’ sites. I wasn’t looking for that – I wanted to learn, and steadily grow a business. Then I stumbled on to a program called Site Build It! – it seemed different from the rest. I was skeptical. Was there really a program out there that could help me learn the ins and outs of web building business one step at time? The more I read the more I believed and after a lot of consideration, I purchased Site Build It! Shortly after watching the first video I was on my way to building a real web site/business. (This product takes you step by step through the process, at your own pace. It is hands down the most comprehensive product I’ve found.) A few short months later, OrlandoVacationResourceGuide.com was born. Now I have the beginning of the site I wanted for my guests and the start of a new business for myself! I hope you enjoy the site.
