Orlando Water Parks

While Orlando is most well known for its theme parks, there are four really good Orlando water parks you should consider fitting into your trip. After all, it can get very hot in Orlando and what better way to cool off than to enjoy a day on a lazy river or water slides and rides?

Owned by Sea World, Aquatica is the newest of all the water parks and the only one that has a slide that takes you through a pool with dolphins!

No worries, you are in a tube so you and the dolphins won’t get in each other’s way. This is the most popular ride at Aquatic so be prepared to wait in line.

This park also features two wave pools and a separate area filled with age appropriate water activities for the little ones.

Blizzard Beach

One of two water parks owned by Walt Disney World, Blizzard Beach is a themed water park.

All rides here are based on what the park would look like if a blizzard hit central Florida.

Summit Plummet is one of the tallest water slides in the US. This water park also have a separate, age appropriate area for those not tall enough for the big rides.

Typhoon Lagoon Lazy River

Typhoon Lagoon
is the second of the two Disney owned water parks and is set in a lush tropical setting.

For those of you who would like to feel like you are on your own tropical island this is the place for you.

A white sandy beach leads you to the large wave pool, a lazy river circles the park and several water slides and rides are sure to help cool you off.

Wet n Wild is owned by Universal Studios and is the oldest of the Orlando water parks. While this park is continually updated it is less of a ‘themed’ water park than the others.

As with the other parks, this water park features rides, slides, a wave pool and a lazy river. For the most part you will find the best deals on ticket prices for this water park.

Water Park Tips
  • Bring surf socks or some type of water shoes. The concrete gets VERY hot and although it seems unlikely with all the water you can burn the bottoms of your feet.

  • You will get wet. It is highly recommended that make use of the lockers that all the parks offer for a nominal daily fee.

  • Don’t forget the sunscreen! Even on a cloudy day you can get a severe burn in Orlando

  • The parks are generally open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, rain or shine. If there is a threat of thunder or lightening the park usually remains open but the rides stop.

  • The hotter and sunnier the day the more crowded the park will be. Get there early so you can find a beach chair or spot on the lawn.
